Why Glamping is Perfect if You Don’t Like Camping

Love the idea of camping… but not the reality?

For plenty of people, camping sounds wonderful in theory. Fresh air, evenings around a fire, waking up to birdsong and spending time outdoors. But then comes the reality of pitching a tent in the rain, sleeping on a thin airbed, walking across a field in the middle of the night and hoping the shower block has hot water.

If that sounds familiar, you’re probably not someone who dislikes the outdoors, you just don’t enjoy traditional camping.

That’s exactly where glamping comes in.

A proper bed makes all the difference

One of the biggest reasons people choose glamping is simple: you get a real bed.

After a day exploring Somerset, there’s nothing better than climbing into crisp bedding on a proper mattress rather than wrestling with a deflating airbed. You still wake up surrounded by nature, but you’ve actually had a good night’s sleep.

Hot showers and your own bathroom

Let’s be honest, shared campsite facilities aren’t for everyone. At Yeabridge Farm Hideaway, each glamping accommodation has access to its own private shower and toilet in a block with a lockable entrance. There’s no midnight dash across a few field or queuing for the shower in the morning.

It’s one of those little luxuries that quickly becomes a necessity.

Campfires without the hassle

You don’t need to give up the best bits of camping. You can still toast marshmallows, enjoy a glass of wine under the stars, cook over the fire pit and spend the evening chatting long after the sun has gone down.

Forgot the marshmallows? No problem. Our little honesty shop by the entrance has all the campfire essentials, including marshmallows, logs, fire lighters and matches, so there’s no need to pack everything or make a last-minute trip to the shops.

It’s everything people love about camping, just without sacrificing comfort.

No pitching. No packing. No stress

Perhaps the biggest advantage of all is arriving to find everything already waiting for you. No poles. No pegs. No arguments over which way the tent goes. Simply unpack your bags, put the kettle on and start enjoying your holiday from the moment you arrive.

Each accommodation also has its own dedicated kitchen area within our communal kitchen, with everything colour-coded just for your stay. Pots, pans, plates, cutlery, cooking utensils and even your coffee mugs all have their own matching colour, so there’s no wondering which bits belong to you or sharing with other guests. It’s a simple idea that makes self-catering easy while still giving everyone plenty of their own space.

The communal kitchen is also a lovely place to meet fellow glampers, swap recommendations or simply enjoy a morning coffee. If you’d rather keep things a little more private, you can head back to your own pitch and spend the evening relaxing beside your own fire pit, soaking up the peace and quiet of the Somerset countryside.

The best of both worlds

Glamping gives you the peace and quiet of the countryside, evenings around the fire, star-filled skies and mornings listening to birdsong, but with the comforts that make a holiday feel like a proper break.

If you’ve always said, “I don’t do camping,” it might be time to give glamping a try. You may just discover you love everything about being outdoors… once someone else has pitched the tent.

Whether you’re escaping for a romantic weekend, bringing the family together, or simply fancy a couple of nights away without travelling too far, Yeabridge Farm Hideaway offers the perfect balance of nature and comfort.
